Professor Jane Buikstra is one of the most acclaimed physical anthropologists and archeologists in the world. She sets international standards for studies of past humans, both when it comes to the conceptualization of primeval processes as well as the methodology of human remains analysis. She is considered to be the creator of bioarcheology, a discipline using anthropological methods to study past humans. Her other important fields of research consist of paleopathology, forensic anthropology and paleodemography.
